Famous for the Taj Mahal, there is so much more to Agra. On the road from Jaipur is the Abhaneri Step Well, or Chand Baori. This world heritage site of Fatehpur Sikri follows and is rated as one of the best preserved collections of Mughal architecture in India.The Taj Mahal itself is a stunning complex, with the gate and the two satellite building that flank the mausoleum beautifully decorated in islamic script, the white marble set off by the red sandstone. Another UNESCO World Heritage site, the Agra Fort was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty till 1638, when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi. Agra is an amazing place, with one of the seven wonders of the world, but there are so many others beautiful historic sites to visit.
